Vibrant, Indian, funky, original and traditional at the time, colorful, feminine, elegant, relaxed, what else about the new collection of the fashion designer Vikram Phadnis. He is young and talented, landed to create dresses by coincidence when was asked to design the costumes for the choreography of a movie. He started to study the medical career, then switched to business, then to choreography which he said he absolutely loved. He never studied design but today is one of the most appreciated of the field in India and not only here. At the Wills Lifestyle Indian Fashion Week last month in Delhi:

The event began with designer Vikram Phadnis ’s show, themed ‘Save The Earth’.
The show began with the sounds of jungle, and dancers swaying to the beats of primitive drums. The models walked the ramp wearing outfits reflecting the basic natural colors – greens, aquamarine blue and earthy shades.
Phadnis’s collection saw jackets, knee-length dresses, pleated skirts and shirts in fabrics like georgettes, linens, and silks.  The young designer says he wanted to give a relevant message in the opening show of the fashion week.
“My collection was inspired by elements of nature like soil, water, leaves etc,” Phadnis is quoted as saying.

A fashion design student writes: I just loved the collection presented by Vikram Phadnis at the recently held Wills Fashion Week! His colours are deep and his garments are richly embroidered. He balances these beautifully with simple, uncluttered cuts. His collection dared to be different and was utterly eclectic and an awesome combination of the traditional and the modern, blended brilliantly. The fashion extravaganza opened with his collection titled “ Save the Earth” and his colours ranged from aqua, green to earthy shades. My personal favourites were the knee-high dresses, jackets, pleated skirts and shirts in soft, sheer fabrics like georgettes, linens, and silks.”

  1. Oh! I really liked this one! Even better than NLs. Didn’t you just love the colors? the red tight churidar with the black velvey kurta? and the chartruse kurta? I really enjoy this guy’s stuff.

I think they are among the best Indian clothes the market at the moment. Especially for youngers and middle aged ones. The colors and the fabric are so beautiful, I also love them a lot! I am thinking to copy the design and bring it to some good tailor here in HK …
